Most horoscope sources base their predictions on the stars and in particular their movement. However, you must keep in mind that it’s not the stars that are moving but rather the earth. The reason it may appear that it is the stars that are moving and not the earth is because the earth is rotating on its axis. In addition, the earth is orbiting around the Sun which makes the movement seem like it’s coming from the stars. Before all our scientific advancements allowed us to figure out it is the earth that’s moving and not the stars, humans had no way of knowing this.
To clarify, astrology may make many predictions and look for many signs in space, keep in mind it’s not a science. Many humans spend much of their time looking up at the stars in hopes they will find their purpose in life. This was also common among ancient Egyptians, Babylonians, and even farmers. The Egyptians predicted the flooding of the Nile river through the observation of Sirius or “the Dog star”. In addition, travelers used the stars as a guide or compass to help them navigate to their destination. It is unknown who was the first to take a look at the stars and try to make sense of what was going on from earth. It is even more unclear who came to the conclusion that the stars had any influence on how one’s life might play out or how the life of those around them will play out. And while astronomers and those who believe in horoscopes may not agree on everything, they do understand why horoscopes and observing the heavens got so popular. To sum up, it’s ok to look up your horoscopes, perhaps they may influence your life in a positive manner. In the end, it’s never a bad thing to have faith in that which you believe in. |
